Glasses & Contacts

eyeglassesMaking a decision about your eyewear affects how you see and also how you want to be seen by others.  Prescribing the best glasses to meet your needs is what we do best.  After a comprehensive eye exam at Pickering Town Centre Optometric Clinic, we will provide you with a glasses prescription and review with you if and how it has changed from your last pair of glasses.

We also consider your work and hobbies when recommending lens styles, materials and treatments.  Polycarbonate lenses are the most impact resistent lenses.  Anti-reflection coatings reduce glare and make lenses look more transparent.  Polarized sunglasses reduce glare off the surfaces of water, snow and the road.  Transition lenses change from light to dark when activated by direct sunlight outdoors and so are popular for many patients who don't want to carry around multiple pairs of glasses.

In our 40s, our reading vision changes and many patients need help deciding between readers, bifocals and progressive (no line) multifocal lenses.  We will review with your the benefits and disadvantages of each of the options and work with you to find what is best suited for you.

Computer glasses are becoming more and more popular given the tremendous amount of time at the computer these days.  They reduce neck and shoulder strain because they are designed so that you do not have to top your head up to see the monitor like may be the case with traditional bifocals or progressive lenses.

We do not sell eyeglassess and so are very objective about your needs.  We are happy to recommend reputable opticals where you may purchase your glasses.  There are several excellent choices right in Pickering Town Centre Mall.  Lenscrafters has a wonderful selection of frames, and often can have your glasses ready in about an hour!
